Salicin is a compound from white willow bark that the body turns into salicylic acid, a substance related to aspirin. People use it for joint comfort and to ease minor, occasional discomfort from movement and activity.
Take it in capsule or tablet form with food to lower the chance of stomach upset. It is meant for temporary, as-needed support.
Salicin can raise bleeding risk, especially if you take anticoagulants or other NSAIDs. It may irritate the stomach. Never give it to children or teenagers who have a viral illness. It is linked to Reye's syndrome. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should stay away from salicin.
